Great, I'll try this soon (and on my MK808 stick too).

If would be great if future updates didn't involve losing all setting and add-ins. This happens if you update from nightly builds, but not for some type of updates.

The original XBMC for Android (from here: http://xbmc.org/download/) doesnt work fine in our Minix Neo media hubs?

Why this "Minix Edition"? What the benefits instead original versions from XBMC team?

    Regards

Some precisions regarding the Minix edition:
    - It is for Minix devices only.
    - It has been optimized for the Rockchip VPU, so you'll get better video performances than on a generic XBMC.
    - VC1 and VP8 accelerated. Still issue with MPEG2.
    - It contains the passthrough hack
    - It has a distinctive android signature, so you can install it alongside any other XBMC. With further updates, you won't loose your settings.
    - It is based on Frodo (12.x)

It shouldn't work on non-MINIX devices.

Fair enough. I may try anyway as I need to update the XBMC that the MK808 uses (it is Rockchip based also), though I won't expect it to work.

i saw that the latest version of x7 fw has libmedia applied. Can you create a version for the mini with libmedia applied to. Otherwise i will need root right ?

Sorry for my new account ther seems to be something wrong with the facebook logon

    why on Frodo (12.x) not 13 ?
  14. koying

    koying Active Member

Because Frodo is "stable" (whateve it means for XBMC).
Gotham (13) is still alpha and not yet relased / is bug ridden.

why did you put a lock for instaling this apk on difrent devices?
xbmc is open source its not nice to do something like this:"
    aeolous and scooter2011 like this.

Does this mean that this version can not be installed on Finless ROMs as they spoof the device for a Samsung one for Google Play compatibility?

    Minix you are great!!

One issue is that when we hide the toolbar the xbmc doesn't fill the screen out, it will be great if you can fix it to go to the fullscreen.

    Waiting for your replay

Fullscreen should work if you hide the toolbar before starting XBMC. Note that XBMC can not be running in the background when you do this (i.e. you need to 'Exit').

Urgghh...that is just annoying. Ouya don't do this do they for their version?

I have a Minix box and a MK808 (both Rockchip) and I'd ideally like the same XBMC version on both.

    Nice,
The VC1 and VP8 video samples play very nicely. Also the passtrough for DTS/DD5.1 is working great (thanks @ stafstrom). The 720p h264 video is playing perfectly.
Compared with other frodo versions (SPMC) the 1080 h264 video playbeck has improved. But still to many framedrops when playing 1080 video on a Minix X5 (rk3066, android 4.2.2_005_1080p version). Is this a lack of "power" of the chipset or does it need improvement of the coding in XBMC?

Overall a very nice beta. @minix/koying, what feedback do you need to improve XBMC for Minix devices?

Exactly this, + reports/logs in case of crashes or malfunctionning files.
1080p on 1080p is "on the edge", and where improvements should happen, but 1080p on 720p firmware should work nicely.

So please, specify if you are using a 720p, 1080p or "overlayed" firmware when reporting.

hi minix what is the lastest fw? this is because 007 is not on official site and I can only see 006c version, so if i have 006c can I use this xbmc minix version?
  25. kaazvaag

    kaazvaag Member

I'm using the 4.2.2_005 1080p firmware on a Minix X5. Examining using the "o" command when playing a 1080p video there is not that much framedropping. In system settings the refresh rate off the full screen is around 19 fps (which is rather low for a 24 fps video). Can this refresh rate be upgraded to around 24 fps? Or should I switch to 720p firmware?
